Statement from Lars Clemensen
Superintendent of Schools
Hampton Bays Public Schools

The district has been notified that Allan Concepcion, the assistant coach for the Hampton Bays Middle School girls gymnastics team, was arrested earlier this morning for allegedly committing a sex crime. The alleged victim is not a Hampton Bays School District student. To the best of our knowledge, this is believed to be an isolated incident and the district has no complaints on record regarding this individual. The district is appalled and disturbed by these allegations and will cooperate, as necessary, with law enforcement authorities during their investigation.

The safety and well-being of our students is our utmost priority.  It is important to know that Mr. Concepcion has been relieved of his responsibilities related to students pending the adjudication of this matter.

Mr. Concepcion passed all necessary background checks in accordance with New York State law prior to his hiring by the district. Mr. Concepcion has been employed by the district on a part-time and per diem basis since 2009 as a substitute teacher and classroom aide, but for the 2012-13 school year, he has only been employed by the district as the assistant coach for the Hampton Bays Middle School girls gymnastics team.

If anyone has any questions related to this incident, please contact the Office of the Superintendent of Schools at 723-2100.
