The Hampton Bays Baymen soundly trounced the McGann-Mercy Monarchs during the Homecoming game on Saturday, October 23. Hampton Bays scored 55 points against Riverhead-based Mercy, who scored 6 points.

Earlier in the day on Saturday, representatives from the four high school classes, as well as members of the middle school cheerleading squads and football teams, participated in the annual Hampton Bays Homecoming Parade. The theme this year was “Mount Olympus,” and the parade route travelled from the United Methodist Church on Montauk Highway to the high school on Argonne Road.

The day seemed to be tailor-made for the gods themselves as the sun shone down on the players and the packed stands full of fans. The good weather was particularly appreciated this year, as last year’s rain cancelled the annual parade festivities.

“These are the best conditions for homecoming that I can remember,” said Hampton Bays Student Council co-advisor Eleni Fotopoulos. “What a beautiful day!”
