Thirty-five new students at Hampton Bays Middle School were officially welcomed to the school during the annual New Student Welcome Breakfast, hosted by the Outstanding Willing Leaders club. According to guidance counselor Laurie O’Halloran, the breakfast served as an opportunity for OWL club members to provide support, answer questions and highlight clubs and extracurricular opportunities as the new students become acquainted with the middle school. As a special award, the OWL students hosted a competition to see who traveled the farthest to get to Hampton Bays. Jorge Proano Ortiz, originally from Spain, was the winner.
