On Tuesday, November 9, Hampton Bays High School Student Council organized their first Mix it Up at Lunch Day for their fellow students. Mix it Up is a national campaign to improve intergroup relations, reduce prejudice and build inclusive learning communities. “During Mix it Up Day, we asked our students to break down the walls of social separation,” said Eleni Fotopoulos, co-advisor of the Student Council. “The Student Council encouraged students to sit in different seats with different groups of people during their lunch period. By moving their seats, they took steps to end the cliques and social routines. They were able to speak to new people and possibly forge new friendships.”
