Three students, one from the elementary school, one from the middle school and one from the high school, received November “Student of the Month” honors during the Hampton Bays School Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, December 7.

Second grader Dulce Pina, seventh-grader Andrew Noa and freshman Wayne Stanton each received a plaque and words of praise from their respective principals.

Dulce, who just became a student at Hampton Bays this year, was nominated for “Student of the Month” recognition by teacher Wendy Alberti and has gotten “rave reviews” from her other teachers, according to Elementary School Principal Marc Meyer. “She’s off to an incredible start,” he added. He said that Dulce wants to be either a doctor or a rock star when she grows up.

Andrew joined the Board of Education meeting a little late as he was “fresh off a victory” on the basketball court, as Middle School Principal Dennis Schug explained. Teachers Jennifer DeStefano and Adreinne Postiglione nominated Andrew for “Student of the Month” because he’s a “leader in the classroom” adding that Andrew cites English, math, science and social studies as his favorite subjects. “That’s pretty much every subject in school,” he laughed.

High School Principal Christopher Richardt reported that Wayne was nominated for “Student of the Month” by social studies teacher Danielle Russo. Ms. Russo was impressed with the Presidential Honor Roll student, who maintains a 97 average in her class. Wayne is also active in the Future Business Leaders of America club and plays on the tennis team.
