The fourth annual Hampton Bays “Challenge Day” was held on Tuesday, March 1, at the high school, and as expected, it was an emotional day for many.

The purpose of “Challenge Day” is about finding common ground, making peace, healing, making amends and igniting passion for service and leadership. Another major component of the annual event is to create a safe environment where adults and youth can join hands and feel accepted, loved and celebrated.

Under the direction of physical education and health teacher Jake Davidson, the program has been going strong at Hampton Bays and is now in its fourth year. The theme for this year’s program was “Be the Change.” Mr. Davidson said that it is his goal that every student has the opportunity to participate in “Challenge Day” before graduating from Hampton Bays.
