Seventh- and eighth-graders had the opportunity to learn more about college life at the middle school’s annual College Awareness Day on Jan. 7.

During the event, which was organized by middle school counselor Laurie O’Halloran, students heard from 15 college students, who either graduated from Hampton Bays High School or are the children of school staff.

The college students took the time to answer questions and also share insights and perspectives about attending college. They also spoke about college schedules, factors that go into college selection and extra-curricular activities offered at college.

College students who participated included: Debora Assis (SUNY Oneonta), Vanessa Alvarez (University of Central Florida), Binela Brbutovic (Towson University), Yoselin Calderón (Stony Brook University), Daniella Gutierrez (SUNY Oneonta), Anna Mahaffy (Rochester Institute of Technology), Kesley Mehrman (SUNY Plattsburgh), Cody Nolan (SUNY Albany), Vanessa Parra Henao (Suffolk County Community College), Carlos Rodriguez (Syracuse University), Sean Ryan (Queens College), Hannah Sferra (Chamberlain College of Nursing), Savannah Spinelli (Farmingdale State College), Haley Spinelli (Farmingdale State College) and Megan Walker (W.
