Enrichment Through the Day

Students at the Hampton Bays Elementary School have been learning about life beyond the classroom through attending a series of “After School Enrichment” programs.

The annual program, which was designed to offer children the chance to explore and develop hobbies and interests beyond the classroom, is now in its fourth year, according to Karen Lombardo, the Coordinator of Enrichment Programs. The theme of this year’s program was “The 2011 Olympics.” Program blocks include: “The Olympic Games” for students in kindergarten and first grade; “Chinese Culture” and “Books and Art” for children in second and third grades; “Jewelry Making” for students in second through fourth grade; and “Arts and Crafts” and “Fitness Club” for students in the third and fourth grades.

Teachers who participated in this year’s three-week “After School Enrichment Program” included: Mr. Kaiser, Ms. Marte, Ms. Stahlhut, Ms. McDowell, Ms. Ellis, Ms. Abbondanza, Ms. Mielenhausen, Mr. Fritzen and Ms. Carey.
