Quogue Wildlife Refuge Visit

First-graders received a hands-on lesson in wildlife as they explored various wildlife critters, courtesy of the Quogue Wildlife Refuge.

As part of the educational program, which teaches children about nature and its inhabitants, the students learned about the origins, lifestyles and eating habits of selected animals.

Included in the program were a tarantula, a corn snake, a bearded dragon and an owl. Under the supervision of Brendan Dickson, an environmental educator with the Quogue Wildlife Refuge, the students were given the opportunity to touch each of the animals.
