Less than a week after the start of a new school year, the Hampton Bays Board of Education was already presented with a dozen high-achieving students during its first meeting on Tuesday, September 13.

Kids Stock the House members were awarded “Certificates of Love” by sponsor Kristina Olivieri on Tuesday night for their continued hard work in raising money for the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. The volunteers participated in several fundraising projects last school year and over the summer, including hosting “Cheer for a Cure,” raising money during “Teen Night,” hosting a volleyball tournament, putting on a car wash and collecting donations at the Southampton 7-Eleven store. Students recognized for their hard work included: Binela and Maida Brbutovic, John Capuano, Lukasz Sokol, Erik Pedersen and Andrew Morris.

Members of the Hampton Bays Battle of the Books team were also recognized on Tuesday night for their third-place finish out of 36 teams in the annual Suffolk County intra-library reading contest. Katrina Ogris, Olivia Terry, Victoria Reardon, Daniella Greene, Robert Scott and Alex Petersen all received special certificates for their accomplishments.
