Basketball Star Scores 2,000th Point

The career milestones keep coming for high school basketball star Alexis Fotopolous, as she celebrated her 2,000th career point at a home game against Miller Place on Jan. 21.

Alexis is now one of only 21 girls in Suffolk County who have achieved such a milestone in the history of girls high school basketball.

“This is a great accomplishment for Alexis, who has worked very hard over the years to develop her skills and game,” said Drew Walker, director of health, physical education and athletics. “She has contributed so much to the Hampton Bays basketball program and helped lift the team to compete at a higher level.”

In addition to her new record, the senior also holds the title of all-time Hampton Bays leading point scorer. A six-year veteran of the girls basketball team, Alexis also served as a starter on two Section XI Class B Championship teams. In addition, she participated in the Elks Club’s Foul Shooting Competition and has competed on several youth league teams.

Alexis will be attending Adelphi University next fall, as she signed a National Letter of Intent in early November.
