Under the direction of Dr. Stephanie Forsberg, high school Research in Science students presented their findings at the school’s third annual Science Research Symposium on March 2.

The 18 students spent between three and four years working on their research projects, with mentors from Stony Brook University, Long Island University and Yale University. Projects included topics related to dolphin acoustics, athletic science, macular degeneration, hurricane tracts and genetically modified foods.

The evening also featured guest speaker Dr. Brian Colle, director for the Institute for Terrestrial and Planetary Atmospheres and leader of the Coastal Meteorological and Prediction group at Stony Brook University.

The Hampton Bays School District extends its congratulations to the following student presenters: Ava Bianchi, Mecca Brooks, Sydney Caldwell, Kaylee Catena, Christina Coulton, Maryrose O’Connell, Alicia Golyski, McCaila Grismer, Meghan Long, Alexandra Macholz, Jack Martin, Erin Murphy, Caroline Oakland, Domenico Pensa, Lily Spellman, Jared Strecker, Magdalena Wrobel and Matthew Zbikowski.
