In the first few months since its inception, the high school Leo Club has already made significant strides in giving back to the community.
On April 4, club members presented the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation with a donation check for $435.  They raised the money through a Valentine’s Day fundraiser in which they sold chocolate lollipops to their peers.

Following their successful JDRF fundraiser, the Leo Club made it a goal to continue their altruistic success and raise money for an orphanage in Costa Rica. To accomplish their goal, they are holding a “Sweatin’ for Cash” spin event at Marvil Fit in Hampton Bays. Participants are seeking donors to sponsor their rides on April 12 and 15 at 7 p.m. To support the cause, and in appreciation of the students’ volunteer efforts during its March event, the Riverhead Lions Club has pledged $1 per mile for each rider.
