Elementary school kindergartners in Mary Beth Motz’s class celebrated Earth Day by transforming paper recyclables into treasures.

After a lesson on the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling, the students were taught to make recycled paper through a process that involves blending scrap paper into pulp, sifting and molding it before setting it out to dry.

They also started using a scrap paper collection bin in their classroom. The bin stores scrap paper that can be reused during centers to create photo collages.
