As part of a planting day initiative, elementary school students took turns planting vegetables in the district’s community garden on June 7 with the help of Joan Moran, garden coordinator.

During the event, students not only watered and planted, but they also learned more about the garden, the food grown in its beds and about the district’s greenhouse.

The community garden, now in its sixth year, provides fresh food to the middle school cafeteria and pounds of produce to the Church of St. Rosalie Food Pantry. The garden is made possible through a grant from Cornell Cooperative Extension.
