For the second year in a row, Hampton Bays High School brought the largest delegation to the National Association of Student Councils Leadership Experience and Development (LEAD) conference, held from November 11-13 in New Mexico. Only five of the 39 Hampton Bays High School Student Council members were unable to attend the conference, which attracted approximately 600 student leaders from all around the United States.

While at the conference, the students attended leadership workshops and learned from world-renowned youth leadership experts, including Ed Gerety, Scott Greenberg and Andy Thibodeau. In addition to honing their leadership skills, the students were also able to visit the University of New Mexico, attend a Division 1 volleyball game, and take a ride in a hot air balloon—a memorably uplifting experience for all!

“This was a great leadership experience for our Student Council officers,” said Hampton Bays High School Principal Chris Richardt of the trip.

The cost of the trip was paid for mostly through fundraising efforts, according to Student Council advisor Eleni Fotopoulos.
