School pride was on display as the Hampton Bays Baymen celebrated homecoming 2016 during the week leading up to its annual homecoming game on Oct. 8.

Dressed in school colors and with the help of the school’s varsity cheerleading squad, Hampton Bays High School students showed support for varsity athletes during a bonfire on Oct. 6, pep rally on Oct. 7 and parade on Oct. 8. The culmination of the spirit celebrations came as the Baymen defeated East Hampton High School with a final score of 28-16.

As part of the celebrations, the Hampton Bays School District paid tribute to Class of 1949 alumnus George Moore. A Marine Corps veteran, Moore was honored during halftime for his 1948 record-setting season as a Bayman and his contributions to the community.
