Learning about different cultures while enjoying the spirit of the holiday season was the focus of the “Holidays Around the World” program at Hampton Bays Elementary School on Friday, December 16.

Each of the first-grade classes was assigned a different country to learn about prior to the annual program, which culminated in performances and an art display for family and friends, and a special themed luncheon for the students.

This year, the classes represented different nations as follows: Ms. Hutchison’s class, Israel; Ms. Poremba’s class, Italy; Ms. Barker’s class, Germany; Ms. Loper’s class, Australia; Ms. Thristino’s class, Sweden; Ms. White’s class, Ireland; and Ms. Biscardi’s class, Mexico.

Songs sung during this year’s event included “The Dreidel Song,” “Dominick the Donkey,” “O Christmas Tree,” “Dashing to the Beach,” “Silent Night,” “Christmas in Killarney,” and “Feliz Navidad.”

Foods from around the world were brought in by students and their parents, which were enjoyed by the first-grade classes after the conclusion of the festive program.
