Hampton Bays High School seniors Sydney Caldwell and Dylan Flores were recently honored by the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance as winners of the Suffolk Zone Student Leadership Award.

Sydney and Dylan were selected based upon their excellence in physical education, leadership ability and service to the community.

A three-sport athlete, Sydney participates in gymnastics, cheerleading and track and field. Her honors include being named an MVP for cheerleading, receiving All-League designation for gymnastics and qualifying for the state championships in the pole vault event. In addition to her athletic accomplishments, she is an Advanced Placement Scholar and a member of her school’s Key Club, National Honor Society, Varsity Club, pep band and marching band.

Dylan has played varsity soccer for the past four years and has served as captain of his school’s team for the past three. Among his sporting accomplishments, he was named All-Conference twice and earned a Suffolk Zone award at the middle school level. When not on the soccer field, he participates in his school’s youth court and on the Science Olympiad team. He also volunteers for breast cancer walks.

The Hampton Bays School District extends its congratulations to both seniors on this noteworthy achievement.
