On January 9th, the district invited parents to the high school auditorium in order to work as a community to gain information about vaping and inhalers. The district contracted with Stephen Dewey, PhD, to conduct a presentation for parents, community members, and staff on this topic. Dr. Dewey is the Director of the Laboratory for Behavioral and Molecular Neuroimaging at North-Shore LIJ, as well as the Director of Research Education at Seafield Center in Westhampton Beach. He came to us with a wealth of knowledge and research and is very well versed in this area. He spoke about the following topics with the goal of helping parents navigate through some questions:

• What does the current research tell us as it relates to inhalants?
• What are the current trends and usage rates both nationally and on Long Island?
• What do parents need to look for and what do we need to know?
• What are the effects of vaping?
• How are kids getting these things?
• Dr. Dewey also provided time for questions and answers
