As part of its character education program, the Hampton Bays School District held its second-quarter “Rising to the Challenge” ceremony on March 7.

During the ceremony, 24 students were recognized for displaying outstanding character. To be considered for selection, the students were required to demonstrate consistent effort, take learning risks, seek out and accept challenges, and apply learning strategies. They also had to demonstrate optimism and resilience, have a positive attitude, inspire others, and serve as team players and role models.

The district extends its congratulations to the following second-quarter honorees: fifth-graders Svetlana Datsyuk, Carlos Teyul Montepeque, Nicole Scourakis and Matthew Seifert; sixth-graders Henry Benitez-Jose, Samantha Kraycar, Paul Rosanti and Cidy Trinidad; seventh-graders Isabelle Caine, Yuli Carballo, Raphael Dominguez, Juan Garcia, Jeffrey Hernandez, William Mendel, Brianna Quiros and Ruth Valdespino; and eighth-graders Aliyah Cukaj, Luis Fernando Diaz, Anahi Hernandez, Meegan Lennon, Benjamin Madison, John Pacheco, Janelle Rodas-Barrios and James Salas-Fernandez.
