Members of Hampton Bays High School’s student council continued the tradition of hosting their annual Senior Citizens Dinner, which has become a very popular evening for local senior citizens.

This year, students and members of the district’s administrative team were on hand to serve and feed more than 70 seniors, according to student council adviser Eleni Fotopoulos. The annual dinner is funded by the Hampton Bays Teachers Association.

“To have the students learn how important it is to give back, and to make those connections with our senior citizens, is important,” Ms. Fotopoulos said. “It’s an important community event.”

Junior Samantha Aube, who is the editor of the high school yearbook, was also on hand to take photos and document the dinner.

Menu items this year included salad, penne pasta with meatballs, desserts from Krieg’s, and coffee and tea. After dinner, those who stayed were encouraged to visit the auditorium next door to hear the annual winter concert, staged by members of the Hampton Bays High School chorus and band.
