Hampton Bays Elementary Gets SMART
Through the fundraising efforts of the Hampton Bays Educational Foundation, a SMART Board was purchased for the elementary school. “SMART Board is a phenomenal educational tool which brings everything to life,” said teacher and experienced SMART instructor, Laurie Dyno. “The SMART Board is perfect for every subject and Hampton Bays is very fortunate to have one.”
SMART Board is an interactive whiteboard. A computer image is projected onto the whiteboard and teachers simply press on the large, touch-sensitive surface to access and control any application.
Teachers can write notes, draw diagrams, and illustrate ideas using a pen from the SMART Board pen tray. Another advantage is that information taught on the SMART Board can be saved and sent home to a student who may have been absent on that particular day. Studies show that when the Smart Board is used as a tool, combined with effective teaching strategies, there are dramatic results in the classroom.
The Hampton Bays model will be on wheels for use by all classes and is expected to arrive soon. For more information on SMART Board, visit their website at http://www.smarttech.com/education.
