A Cheeky Lesson
As part of a Living Environment Regents course lesson, middle school students studied the cells inside their mouths.
During the lesson, the students scraped their cheeks to obtain epithelial cells that were then viewed under a microscope. The students further compared their own cells to those of animals and plants.
“The students found it very interesting to see the anatomical differences between plant cells and animal cells,” said teacher Toni Dossiano.
