Hampton Bays High School News

August 2011

Dear High School Students and Parents:

Welcome back to the 2011-2012 school year!  I hope that the summer has been restful and that you are prepared for the challenges of the upcoming academic year.  Over the past two months we have been busy hiring new staff and preparing the building for a school year filled with opportunities.

There will be a few new faces at Hampton Bays High School when you arrive in September.  This year we welcome Ms. Katelyn Meyer (English), Ms. Kelly Barrett (Math), Mrs. Lilly Salcedo (Spanish) and Mr. Kyle Valentine (Special Education) to our faculty.  These new teachers will help to support a truly comprehensive high school program designed to prepare students for success in college and career.  As in past years, we will offer 12 Advanced Placement courses, opportunities to earn college credit through Suffolk Community College and an alternative school program prepared to address the needs of our at-risk students.

With the start of a new year, I hope that all students take advantage of the opportunities presented to them at Hampton Bays High School.  During the 2011-2012 school year, we will offer over twenty athletic teams and more than twenty co-curricular clubs and activities for our students to showcase and develop their distinctive talents.  Whether you enjoy Kung Fu with Mr. Lopez or building Robots with Mr. Baumann, there is literally something for everyone.

Our first day of classes is Wednesday, September 7.  Please remember that school begins at 7:30 a.m. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me at crichardt@hbschools.us or call the Main Office at (631) 723-2110.

I hope that you enjoy the rest of the summer and wish you success this school year.

Sincerely,

Christopher Richardt
Principal
