The Hampton Bays School District Board of Education has appointed Dr. Michelle Mayrose as Hampton Bays Middle School’s new assistant principal.

In welcoming her to the district, Superintendent of Schools Lars Clemensen said, “Dr. Mayrose brings a genuine passion for building strong relationships with students, families, teachers and staff. Her enthusiasm, compassion and dedication will be a tremendous asset to our school community.” 

Dr. Mayrose joins Hampton Bays from the Comsewogue School District, where she served as the assistant director of pupil personnel and special education. She was previously an evening adult education supervisor for Eastern Suffolk BOCES and a virtual clinical supervisor at Western Governors University in Salt Lake City. She began her career as a special education teacher for Nassau BOCES at Seaman Neck Middle School. 

Dr. Mayrose holds a Bachelor of Science in students with disabilities/childhood education from Dowling College and both a Master of Science in Education in students with disabilities and a Doctor of Education from Long Island University. She earned her advanced certificate in district leadership from St. Joseph’s College.  

“As an assistant principal, I hope to build strong relationships with students, staff and families while creating a positive, supportive school community,” said Dr. Mayrose. “I hope to advocate for every student, support teachers and promote academic, behavioral and social-emotional success. Most importantly, I want to be a visible, approachable and consistent leader who listens, communicates and works collaboratively to make our school the best it can be for all students."
