Hampton Bays Elementary School Student Council members recently demonstrated their compassion and leadership as part of the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation’s Furry Friends Fundraiser.
The students visited the shelter to learn firsthand about the care and needs of animals and then organized a variety of individual and group fundraising activities, including bake sales, painted rock sales and other creative efforts. Their hard work and dedication resulted in a total of $6,000 raised to benefit the shelter.
In addition, third grader Giavanna Rasanen, who raised the most funds, was awarded a $5,000 educational grant from the foundation to support her future academic goals.
The Hampton Bays School District congratulates the students on their hard work and dedication to a local cause.
