Cuando recibí la noticia de que me iba a otro país, me sorprendí. Cuando salí de casa y me despedí de mi familia, vi a mi madre y a mi hermana pequeña llorando porque sabía que era difícil para ellas estar solas y para mí también ya que he vivido con ella la mayor parte de mi vida. Después de despedirme de mi familia con unas cuantas lágrimas y el hecho de no volverlas a ver ni abrazar, me dio cierto sentimiento de angustia y desesperación porque mi vida tomó un nuevo rumbo. A lo largo de esta travesía tuve experiencias y muchas situaciones en las que necesitaba y añoraba unos abrazos de algún familiar. Cuando crucé la frontera de Estados Unidos me llevaron a las instalaciones de la migración (ICE), estaba esperando noticias de mis hermanos que me iban a recibir. Pasaron tres o cuatro días en las que pase en las instalaciones de la migración. De ahí me llevaron a un albergue, cuando llegué al albergue me dieron una grata bienvenida, en este albergue conocí a muchos adolescentes como yo que dejaron a sus familias atrás, vivimos juntos, nos contamos sobre nuestros viajes y el cómo llegamos a este país que no conocíamos de nada. En el tiempo que estuve en ese albergue tuve un poco de desesperación por saber cuándo me iría o que si me iba a ir, pero pasé un mes muy agradable en el albergue junto a mis compañeros.
Pasó un mes y me dieron la noticia de que me iba a reunir con mi familia. Cuando llegué a Nueva York me encontré con mi hermano al que no veía desde hacía ocho años. Llegué a casa de mi hermana y me dieron una cálida bienvenida, una semana después me matriculé en la escuela y durante casi un año estudié en Riverhead High School. Un nuevo entorno donde las cosas eran muy diferentes a como las conocía. Fue donde inició un nuevo capítulo en mi vida en la cual yo he cometido errores y he aprendido tantas cosas de las cuales me han ayudado a crecer como persona. Pasó el tiempo en el que estudié en Riverhead, hice amigos los cuales me estaban ayudando a adaptarse en ese nuevo entorno, pero mi familia tomó la decisión de mudarse aquí a Hampton Bays. El nuevo cambio fue ciertamente difícil para mi dejar un lugar en el cual no me había adaptado del todo por completo para posteriormente ir a otro completamente diferente y desconocido para mi. Y pensar que mi vida estaba apunto de tomar otro rumbo el cual creo que fue lo mejor para mi, comencé mi vida de vuelta en Hampton Bays el cual es un lugar muy agradable Y con buen ambiente.
Con todas estas experiencias y eventos que he vivido me he dado cuenta de que la vida puede darte sorpresas que te pueden hacer madurar de cierta manera, y cómo estas experiencias pueden afectar las decisiones que tomas y que tomarás para un futuro. En constantes eventos te das cuenta que cada una de las decisiones que has tomado y el cómo han afectado y afectarán tanto tu presente como tu futuro.

When I received the news that I was going to another country, I was surprised. When I left the house and said goodbye to my family, I saw my mother and my little sister crying because I knew it was difficult for them to be alone and for me too since I have lived with her most of my life. After saying goodbye to my family with a few tears and not seeing or hugging them again, I felt a certain feeling of anguish and despair because my life took a new direction. Throughout this journey I had experiences and many situations in which I needed and longed for hugs from a family member. When I crossed the United States border they took me to the immigration facilities (ICE), I was waiting for news from my brothers who were going to receive me. Three or four days passed in which I spent in the immigration facilities. From there they took me to a hostel. When I arrived at the hostel they gave me a pleasant welcome. In this hostel I met many teenagers like me who left their families behind. We lived together, we told each other about our trips and how we arrived in this country that we didn't know at all. During the time I was in that hostel I was a little desperate to know when I was going to leave or if I was going to leave, but I spent a very pleasant month in the hostel with my classmates.
A month passed and they gave me the news that I was going to be reunited with my family. When I arrived in New York I met my brother whom I had not seen for eight years. I arrived at my sister's house and was warmly welcomed, a week later I enrolled in school and for almost a year I studied at Riverhead High School. A new environment where things were very different from how I knew them. It was where a new chapter began in my life in which I have made mistakes and I have learned so many things that have helped me grow as a person. The time I studied at Riverhead passed, I made friends who were helping me adapt in that new environment, but my family made the decision to move here to Hampton Bays. The new change was certainly difficult for me to leave a place in which I had not fully adapted and subsequently go to another completely different and unknown to me. And to think that my life was about to take another direction which I think was the best for me, I started my life back in Hampton Bays which is a very nice place with a good atmosphere.
With all these experiences and events that I have lived, I have realized that life can give you surprises that can make you mature in a certain way, and how these experiences can affect the decisions you make and will make for the future. In constant events you realize that each of the decisions you have made and how they have affected and will affect both your present and your future.
