APPR Plan - Teacher/Principal Evaluation

The Board of Education of the Hampton Bays Union Free School District adopted its NYS Education Department-approved Annual Professional Performance Plan at its September 2012 Regular Business Meeting.

The plan was created, and subsequently approved by NYSED, pursuant to the requirements of New York State Education Law §3012-c and regulations of the Commissioner of Education. The Annual Professional Performance Review supports the professional growth of our educators to promote their work in maximizing academic achievement for all students. In accordance with the provisions of Section 3012-c, Education Law prohibits the disclosure of the annual professional performance reviews of individual teachers and principals under the Freedom of Information Law, Article 6 of the Public Officers Law. Parents and legal guardians of students in the District have rights, upon written request, to review and receive the final quality rating and composite score of individual teachers and principals to which their children have been assigned for the current year. Consequently, a form must be filled out to be utilized in making a request. This form can be obtained by contacting Denise Sullivan, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum. If you have any questions, she can be contacted at (631) 723-2100, ext. 5104. The District has has a legal obligation to verify that any such request is a bona fide one by a parent or legal guardian entitled to receive such data pursuant to Education Law.
