	HBMS 2011/2012 Yearbook Pre-sale... The HBMS PTO is running a pre-order yearbook sale, now through Feb 5th.  Orders may be placed online at www.balfour.com, additional information and a form to submit a order by check is provided by clicking here.
	HBMS Robotics Team Heads to the Championship Round... On January 28th, the HBMS Robotics team competed in their first Lego League Qualifying Tournament in Massapequa.  Over the past few months, team members have been perfecting their robot and researching solutions to food safety issues. As a result of their hard work and preparation the team was awarded 2nd place in the category of Gracious Professionalism.  We wish them all the luck as they move on to compete in the Championship round on March 4th at Longwood.

	MS PTO Book Fair... The HBMS PTO is sponsoring the 2012 Book Fair on February 15, 16, and 17th.  Students may purchase books and other items during lunch.  Flyers including additional information will be sent out soon.
	The 7th Grade Love Bead Fundraiser is underway!  Love Beads will be on sale for the next 3 weeks. Each necklace costs $1 and can be sent to anyone in the Elementary or Middle School. Delivery will be Tuesday, February 14th.    Please contact Mrs. Heenan or Mr. Balistreri for more information.   Love bead necklaces are also available for student purchase during lunch periods.   Thanks for your continued support!!!

The Middle School

In order to provide a high-quality education targeted exclusively for middle school students, Hampton Bays Union Free School District has built the district’s first-ever middle school. This campus, which has been fully operational since the 08-09 school year, houses grades five through eight and focuses on meeting the academic, social, and developmental needs of our middle-level adolescents.  Please take the time to look through the HBMS Experience Guide which highlights all there is to offer throughout your time in middle school.
 

Message from the Principal

Dear Students and Families of Hampton Bays Middle School:

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to the Hampton Bays Middle School experience. Our HBMS team is proud to lead our students as they transition through their critical middle school years, and we look forward to continuing to actively collaborate with the PTO, faculty, and staff to provide our students with a safe, orderly and academically enriching environment. I encourage you and your families to take advantage of everything HBMS has to offer during, and beyond, the traditional school day.

A strong home-school partnership is the cornerstone of our students' success. Students, you are encouraged to explore and investigate our more than 30 clubs and organizations. Parents, please consider becoming an active member of our PTO. Your participation and our partnership are crucial to our students in their pursuit of a well-rounded middle school experience. Please do not hesitate to contact my office if I can ever be of assistance.

From West
LIE to Exit 70 South. Take County Rd. 111 South to the end. It places you on
Sunrise Hwy. (Rte. 27). Take to Exit 65 South. Make left at Diner onto
Montauk Hwy. Head East for 2 traffic lights. Turn right at 2nd light
(Ponquogue Avenue). Travel approximately 1 mile. Pass Library. School will
be on the right one block down.

From East
Take Sunrise Hwy (Rte. 27) to Exit 65 South. Make left at Diner onto Montauk
Hwy. Head East for 2 traffic lights. Turn right at 2nd light (Ponquogue).
Cross over railroad tracks. Travel approximately 1 mile. Pass Library.
 School will be on the right one block down.
