The Hampton Bays Union Free School District's Office of School Safety is responsible for the districtwide school safety program which is intended to protect Hampton Bays' students and staff in support of the district's educational goals.
Through to collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement, the Office of School Safety:
- Mitigates against the effects of hazardous events by identifying hazards, preparing for and responding to, and managing the recovery from emergencies.
Provides training and ongoing support for staff, students, and families that includes violence prevention, mental health awareness, and emergency response.

We are advocates for our students' education and our teachers' well being in that we strive to deliver a safe environment for all students every day.
Under the terms of Section 211 of the Retirement and Social Security Law
and Section 80-5.5 of Commissioner's Regulations, Mr. Moran is approved
for service as the Director of School Safety. As a retired police
officer, this approval is required so that Mr. Moran does not lose his
previously earned pension rights. His compensation package is approved
annually by the Board of Education at a rate of 90% full-time employment
