Hampton Bays Elementary School students enrolled in the school’s Big Wizards after-school enrichment program have been engaged in a variety of STEAM activities, including learning about circuits and switches.

As part of a recent lesson facilitated by STEM teacher Jonathan DellaSperanza, students used Popsicle sticks, copper tape and binder clips to construct their own flashlights. For their next project, they will explore how light and colors interact by building their own kaleidoscopes.

The school’s 20-year-old enrichment program aims to provide students with additional opportunities to enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills through fun, engaging activities.
