Supporting the Wounded Warrior Project:
The grade five students and staff will be sponsoring the following activities as our grade level service program this school year. The involvement in this campaign will allow us the opportunity to honor the military service of those who have in the past or are currently serving, as well as, encourage our students to become active and caring citizens.

HAITI HOUSES:
Tiny houses that make a BIG difference
Hampton Bays Middle School has led the creation of the tiny houses with Visual Art teacher, Kathy Dayton. Students create the “Haiti House Pins” with recycled materials. The hand crafted house pins are being sold for $5.00 each at school district events throughout the 2010-11 school year. Hampton Bays Middle School students have already raised over $750.00 for Haiti Houses! For more information click here... |

1st Annual Fall Harvest for the Homeless:
HBMS and the PTO are teaming up to support the Maureen’s Haven Homeless Outreach Program by supplying bagged lunches to St. Mary’s church in an effort to feed the homeless throughout the months of November though March.
During the week of October 18th – 22nd, water jugs will be placed in each grade level pod, and in the cafetorium, in an effort to raise money to purchase supplies to support this cause. We are asking for a “suggested donation” of $1 from each student. Please encourage students to donate so that we can reach, and hopefully surpass, this year’s goal of $300.
In addition, 5th and 6th grade advisories will be given brown paper bags in which to decorate with images and words of encouragement and happiness which will be used to pack lunches that will be distributed at St. Mary’s church.
Starting in November, 7th and 8th grade students will be given the opportunity to provide service to their community by coming after school to assist in packing bags. These dates will be provided at a later date and posted in the National Junior Honor Society display case, which is located outside the main office.
