Hampton Bays varsity runner Emma Halsey had a stellar winter season that culminated with her becoming the first Hampton Bays athlete to qualify and compete in the Nike Indoor Nationals. The senior ran the 55-meter and 60-meter hurdles, two events that she excelled in during the winter season. She broke the school’s record in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.64, as well as the school’s triple jump record with a jump of 34 feet, 8.75 inches. She further earned All-League, All-County and All-County Academic accolades. She has committed to running at the University of Rhode Island in the fall and will study Environmental Science Management. The district congratulates Emma on her exceptional season.
