Hampton Bays Elementary School first graders in Nicola Lombardi’s and Krista Savino’s classes kicked off the fall season by learning about apples through hands-on activities. Students predicted whether apples would float or sink, discovered the star-shaped pattern that apple seeds make and created artwork by using apples to stamp and paint. They were amazed to learn that there are 7,500 varieties of apples grown around the world.
