Hampton Bays Middle School seventh grade biology students recently designed their own experiments to investigate mealworm behavior. After learning about animal studies, the students explored questions such as which types of food mealworms prefer, whether they are more comfortable in light or dark environments, and how they burrow in different materials. The project challenged the students to think critically about how to measure and quantify animal behavior, an essential skill in scientific research.
